Hydrotherapy

Just as people swim to improve health and fitness, animals can also experience great benefits from exercising in water. Used in the horse world for many years, dog hydrotherapy is seen as an effective treatment which can be used to aid recovery from surgery or injury, helping to achieve good health and fitness more efficiently.
Your dog’s well-being is our primary concern…
At Aquapaws we aim to return your dog to optimum health, safely and gently, using the most up-to-date equipment – therapy pool or water treadmill – in the most appropriate way to achieve this as quickly and effectively
as possible.
> How can dog hydrotherapy help?
• After surgery – especially if your dog has suffered
a fracture or cruciate ligament injury
• Treating degenerative diseases like osteoarthritis
or hip dysplasia
• Improving conditions which cause weakness in your
dog’s limbs and difficulty walking
• Helping with back or neck problems, muscle tears,
sprains and strains
• Improving general fitness and agility
• It can be fun too! Surgery, illness or obesity may
mean that your dog is unable to walk – hydrotherapy
provides a great opportunity for exercise and play…
> The treatment process...
All dogs treated at Aquapaws are seen following referral from their own vet. If you think your dog may benefit from hydrotherapy, the first step is to talk to your practice about suitability and ask your vet for a referral. If required, we can help with advice on whether dog hydrotherapy is an appropriate option.
